Unstitched Fabric FAQ: Choosing Lawn, Cotton, Linen & Winter Fabrics

Choosing fabric for your next outfit? Check the individual product details before ordering. Fabric names alone do not confirm fibre content, weight, width or care requirements.

What is the fabric composition?

Check the stated fibre content for each item and each suit component. Do not assume that “cotton” means 100% cotton or that “linen” means pure flax linen unless the listing confirms it. If percentages or blend details are missing, ask before buying. Browse unstitched cotton and unstitched linen.

How do I check GSM or fabric weight?

GSM means grams per square metre, a measure of fabric weight, not a quality grade. If a listing does not state GSM, ask for the weight details rather than relying on photographs or the fabric name. Compare the listed details in our lawn and khaddar collections.

What width and length do I need?

Length and width are different measurements. Check the supplied length of every piece and confirm the usable fabric width if it is not listed. Ask your tailor whether both suit your measurements, design and any lining or pattern-matching needs before ordering. Explore plain lawn; use the selected product’s stated quantity rather than assuming a standard cut.

Is the fabric digitally printed, rotary printed or plain dyed?

Use the individual listing to confirm the finish of the shirt, trouser and dupatta, which may differ. Our rotary-printed lawn collection and plain dyed lawn collection are useful starting points. A print method alone does not guarantee colourfastness or durability.

Will the colour look exactly like the photos?

Screen settings and lighting can change how colours appear. If a precise shade is important, ask for clarification before ordering; do not rely on a screen image for an exact match. View the options in plain dyed lawn.

Do unstitched suits need tailoring?

Yes. Unstitched fabric needs cutting and stitching to your measurements. Check the pieces and lengths included, then confirm your design with your tailor. Do not assume that lining, trims or stitching are included unless stated. Browse unstitched lawn options.

How should I wash the fabric, and will it shrink?

Follow the care instructions for the specific item or its label. There is no single washing method or shrinkage percentage that applies to every fabric. Before washing, soaking or cutting, confirm the recommended treatment and any pre-shrinking requirement with us and your tailor. Check item-specific guidance when choosing cotton or linen.

Can I check a swatch before cutting?

If you already have a spare offcut, testing it according to the item’s care instructions can help check colour transfer and dimensional change before treating the full fabric. Do not cut a piece from your order just to test it without first checking the applicable return terms. Ask whether a sample is available for your chosen item before ordering; sample availability is not promised here. Start with cotton options.

Which fabric should I choose?

For a summer outfit, start with lawn; compare cotton for everyday outfits. For winter shopping, explore linen, khaddar and dhanak. Make the final choice using the item’s confirmed composition, weight, measurements and care needs, alongside your local weather, preferred feel and tailor’s advice.
